A political support group in Kaduna is setting its sights on an ambitious number: one million women.
CGMUSAWAH for PBAT 2027 says it plans to mobilise the women for a solidarity walk in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani as it ramps up its grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group’s National Coordinator, Policab Gankon, announced the plan on Friday in a statement issued in Kaduna.
From youth initiative to political mobilisation
Gankon said the organisation, previously known as MUSAWAH 4 YOUTH & DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE, adopted the new name, CGMUSAWAH for PBAT 2027, to reflect its renewed backing for the Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also praised Tinubu for appointing retired Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa to several key national roles, including Chief of Defence Staff and Minister of Defence.
According to Gankon, Musa’s roles, including his involvement as Secretary for Security Matters in the Presidential Campaign Council, reflected the President’s confidence in his experience and leadership.
Gankon said the appointments carried significance beyond Musa himself, arguing that they also represented recognition for Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Backing the APC at federal and state levels
CGMUSAWAH said it would continue supporting APC-led administrations at both levels of government.
The group pledged its support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Kaduna State Government’s SUSTAIN Agenda.
Gankon also commended Governor Uba Sani, particularly for what he described as efforts to promote justice, unity and public trust across Kaduna State.
The group welcomed the nomination of Comrade Jerry Adams as Sani’s running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the choice as a step toward broader political inclusion.
A grassroots machine built for 2027
The organisation says its strength lies in its statewide mobilisation network.
Its claimed structure includes:
- 115 Local Government Area mobilisers
- 2,295 ward mobilisers
- 24,036 polling-unit mobilisers
- More than 340 registered affiliate support and interest groups
Gankon said the network is ready to be activated across Kaduna ahead of the election.
The proposed one-million-woman walk is intended to be the group’s first major public demonstration of that machinery.
One event, two political messages
The solidarity walk is expected to formally launch CGMUSAWAH’s campaign activities for Tinubu and Uba Sani.
The group also plans to hold a large reception for Jerry Adams on the same day.
Gankon urged members, supporters and affiliated organisations to maintain unity and remain committed to the campaign, saying the group would draw on its structures across the state to build support for the APC’s candidates.
But the organisation says its objective extends beyond electoral numbers.
It wants the mobilisation drive to increase grassroots political participation, particularly among women and young people, and encourage them to take a more active role in Nigeria’s democratic process.
With structures spanning Kaduna’s 23 local government areas, wards and polling units, CGMUSAWAH says it is prepared to put its full network behind its political objectives for 2027.
