Three dialysis machines have been donated to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), offering additional support to patients receiving treatment for kidney-related conditions.
The equipment was donated on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye.
The donation was made through His Love Foundation (HLF), the charitable arm of the RCCG’s global Christian Social Responsibility initiative.
Donation Targets Kidney Care
Presenting the equipment on behalf of the donors, Pastor Bode Olojede said the three complete dialysis sets were supplied by Adeboye and his wife.
He explained that HLF’s humanitarian work extends beyond healthcare, with programmes focused on areas including:
- Health and medical support
- Hunger relief
- Education
- Rehabilitation
- Prison ministry
- Social enterprise
Olojede said the RCCG leadership had previously supported healthcare interventions across Nigeria, including the construction of intensive care facilities and the establishment of dialysis centres named after Enoch and Folu Adeboye in teaching hospitals and other medical facilities.
UBTH Welcomes Support
The Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, praised the Adeboyes for the donation.
She said the equipment would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide renal care while complementing government spending on healthcare infrastructure and services.
The donation comes at a time when access to specialised medical treatment remains a major concern for many Nigerians, particularly patients who require regular dialysis.
FCC Commissioner Calls for More Philanthropy
Victor Edoror, the Federal Character Commission (FCC) commissioner representing Edo State, also commended the initiative.
Edoror, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, joined Ize-Iyamu in receiving the equipment at the hospital.
He stressed that government resources alone may not be sufficient to address the country’s healthcare challenges and called on other religious leaders and prominent organisations to increase their support for vulnerable patients.
He specifically encouraged other church leaders across Nigeria to consider similar philanthropic interventions.
A Wider Healthcare Intervention
For the beneficiaries, the donation means additional equipment for a specialised service on which patients with serious kidney problems depend.
Edoror expressed appreciation to Adeboye and his wife for what he described as their compassion toward vulnerable patients.
The UBTH donation also adds to the healthcare interventions attributed to the Adeboyes and His Love Foundation, particularly in the area of renal care.
