Samuel Chukwueze may have played his way into AC Milan’s long-term plans.
The Nigerian winger has made a fast start to the 2026/27 season, and his early performances could soon earn him a new contract at San Siro.
Chukwueze has started all three of Milan’s opening Serie A matches, registering two assists as he fights to establish himself as a regular in the Rossoneri’s starting XI.
The 27-year-old still has a deal with the seven-time European champions until June 2028. However, transfer journalist Nicolò Schira reports that Milan are preparing to begin talks over an extension.
Milan Ready to Reward Chukwueze
The reported interest represents a significant shift in Chukwueze’s situation at the club.
After returning from a loan spell at Fulham, the Nigeria international has quickly become more involved under Milan’s current plans. His three consecutive league starts, combined with his two assists, have given the club an early reason to consider securing his future beyond his existing contract.
For Chukwueze, the timing could hardly be better.
From Villarreal to Milan and Back Into the Spotlight
Chukwueze joined Milan from Spanish club Villarreal in the summer of 2023. His first spell at the Italian giants was followed by a move to the Premier League, where he spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Fulham.
He returned to San Siro ahead of the new season with another opportunity to prove himself.
So far, he appears to be taking it.
If his strong start continues, Milan could move from considering a contract extension to making Chukwueze a more firmly established part of their long-term plans.
