A new US military delivery has landed in Nigeria as Washington and Abuja deepen their security partnership.
The United States has supplied military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force under an existing foreign military sales agreement, in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to confront terrorism and other security threats.
The delivery was disclosed on Thursday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
US Air Force Aircraft Delivers Equipment
According to AFRICOM, a US Air Force C-17 aircraft transported the equipment to Nigeria over the weekend.
The command described the delivery as part of ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries.
AFRICOM said the equipment forms part of a foreign military sales arrangement designed to strengthen the US-Nigeria security relationship and support Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.
