The Edo State Police Command has arrested six men over separate allegations involving the abuse of minors, including a case involving a teenage girl and her father.
State Commissioner of Police CP Patrick Daaor disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The suspects were presented alongside other people arrested over alleged offences including kidnapping, vandalism, staged kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms.
Cases Under Investigation
According to the police, the cases involve children between 8 and 15 years old.
- Orji Okoro, 42, was arrested after a complaint involving a 12-year-old boy. Police said investigations are ongoing.
- Daniel Erumudonmoh Okhuilegbe, 52, a private lesson teacher, was arrested over an allegation involving a 13-year-old girl. He was arraigned before the Benin High Court on August 14 and remanded at Oko Correctional Centre.
- Police also reported an allegation involving a 42-year-old father and his 15-year-old daughter. The suspect was charged to court on August 14 and remanded pending further proceedings.
- Samson Amachie, 29, was arrested over an allegation involving an 11-year-old girl. Police said he was subsequently arraigned before the Benin High Court and remanded at Oko Correctional Centre.
- Otaru Jonathan, 26, was arrested over an allegation involving a 14-year-old girl in Afokpella. Police said the child was taken to a hospital for medical care, while investigations into the case continue.
- Innocent Emmanuel, 21, was arrested following an allegation involving an 8-year-old girl. Police said the child was taken for medical examination and that the investigation remains ongoing.
Police Continue Investigations
The police said some of the suspects have already been taken to court, while investigations into other cases are still underway.
The allegations remain unproven in court, and the suspects are entitled to due process as the cases proceed.
Authorities said further legal action will follow where investigations establish sufficient grounds.
