The APC is not ready to concede—or challenge—the Osun governorship result just yet.
The party is still reviewing the outcome of the Aug. 15 election, its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, said after meeting President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
Oyebamiji, who finished second behind incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, said the party would announce its next step once it completes a detailed assessment of the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
APC reviewing election results
Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa on Friday, Oyebamiji said the party was comparing the official results with its own records from the election.
He said the APC would make its position public after that review is concluded.
For now, no final decision has been announced.
Oyebamiji also urged APC supporters across Osun to remain calm while the party conducts its assessment.
Oyebamiji calls for peace
The APC candidate said President Tinubu stressed the need for political actors and their supporters to handle elections peacefully.
According to Oyebamiji, the President reminded him that the ultimate purpose of government is to serve the people, making stability and public safety essential after an election.
Oyebamiji therefore appealed to residents and his supporters to avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
“The take-home is that they should be calm. They should remain peaceful while the party completes its review.”
Appeal to Adeleke
Oyebamiji also called on Governor Adeleke to urge his supporters to avoid confrontation or any behaviour that could lead to violence.
He argued that political disputes should not put residents at risk and said both sides had a responsibility to protect peace across the state.
“Violence is against our people,” Oyebamiji said, urging the governor to speak directly to his supporters.

APC candidate alleges attacks
Oyebamiji further claimed that some of his supporters were attacked following the election.
He specifically referenced incidents in Ikire, his hometown, where he said four or five people were attacked. According to him, the incidents had been reported to security agencies.
The allegations come as political tensions remain under scrutiny following the election.
Meetings at the Presidential Villa
Oyebamiji’s visit to the Presidential Villa included a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima, in addition to his discussion with President Tinubu.
His meeting with Tinubu came one day after Governor Adeleke also visited the President.
Adeleke had gone to the Presidential Villa to express his appreciation for what he described as Tinubu’s role in ensuring a free and fair election.
For now, the APC’s position remains under review. The party’s assessment of its polling records and the officially declared results will determine whether it accepts the outcome or announces a further course of action.
