Two officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, have been killed in an ambush by gunmen in Akure North Local Government Area.
The officers were attacked on August 11 as they emerged from their base near the Ago-Oyinbo farming area around Ala Daadaa, according to the corps.
Amotekun spokesperson Jimoh Adeniken said the operatives came under sudden gunfire and engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange.
One officer was seriously injured, while two others were killed in the attack.
Reinforcements deployed
Following the incident, Amotekun command deployed additional personnel to the area to search for the attackers and assist efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
The corps has also increased:
- Security patrols
- Operations in the affected area
- Intelligence gathering
- Monitoring of surrounding communities
Authorities say the measures are intended to prevent another attack and reassure residents that their safety remains a priority.

Government mourns fallen officers
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, together with the Amotekun commander and the agency’s management, expressed condolences to the families, colleagues and friends of the officers.
The corps praised the fallen operatives for their courage and commitment to protecting residents of the state.
Amotekun also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and vigilant and to share credible information with security agencies that could help identify the attackers.
Families seek continued support
The families of the deceased officers expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Government and Amotekun leadership for the arrangements made for their burial.
They also appealed to the government to consider the families in future recruitment exercises and other benefits available to the relatives of fallen officers.
The corps said it would continue working with other security agencies to track down those responsible.
Despite the attack, Amotekun says it will not be deterred from its mission to protect lives and property across Ondo State.
