Years of public friction appeared to fade Thursday night when Kanye West and Big Sean shared a Chicago stage.
West, who now goes by Ye, was performing at Soldier Field when he unexpectedly brought out his former G.O.O.D. Music artist.
“Had to bring my homie from the D out,” Ye told the crowd as Big Sean rose onto the globe-shaped stage.
The two rappers then performed “Clique,” their 2012 collaboration, before Sean took the spotlight for his solo hit “I Don’t F* With You.”** 2 Chainz later joined them for “Mercy.”
For fans familiar with the artists’ history, the moment carried more weight than a typical guest appearance.
From label partners to public fallout
Ye and Big Sean’s relationship soured publicly in 2021 after years of working together.
During an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, Ye criticized Sean and said signing the Detroit rapper was among his biggest regrets. He even joked that his hypothetical gravestone should credit him for signing Sean.
The comments came amid tensions surrounding Ye’s 2020 presidential campaign. Ye had criticized Big Sean and John Legend for failing to support his run and accused the two musicians of being sellouts.
Sean responded publicly, dismissing Ye’s remarks with a blunt insult.

The fallout was followed by another major change: Big Sean departed G.O.O.D. Music after roughly 14 years with the label.
That history made Thursday’s reunion particularly notable.
Rather than addressing the old dispute directly, the two artists let the performance speak for itself. They shared the stage, performed songs from their years of collaboration, and appeared comfortable in front of a Chicago crowd.
Whether the reunion signals a lasting reconciliation remains unclear. But after years of public tension, seeing Ye and Big Sean perform side by side represents a striking change from where their relationship once stood.
