3 Killed, 5 Injured in Kano Community Attack

Three people were killed and five others injured after suspected bandits attacked Chiromawa community in Kano State’s Garun Mallam Local Government Area on Saturday night.

The attackers reportedly stormed the community at about 10:30 p.m., opening fire on residents and triggering panic across the area.

According to Salisu Harris, Information Officer of Garun Mallam Local Government Council, residents, local vigilantes and police personnel mobilised in response to the attack.

Sarkin Noma rescued

Among those reportedly caught up in the incident was the Sarkin Noma of Kano State, Alhaji Yusuf Chiromawa, who was said to have been rescued during the security response.

The circumstances surrounding his presence during the attack were not immediately disclosed.

Council orders urgent medical care

Garun Mallam Local Government Chairman Aminu Kadawa expressed concern over the violence and directed that the injured victims receive immediate medical attention.

He also:

  • Condoled with the families of those killed.
  • Prayed for the victims and the recovery of those injured.
  • Commended residents, vigilantes and security personnel for their response.
  • Called for closer cooperation between communities and security agencies.

Kadawa urged residents to share credible security information with authorities, stressing that timely intelligence could help prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.

The attack has renewed concerns about the security of communities in the area, while authorities are urging residents and security agencies to strengthen collaboration against criminal activity.
