NYSC officials say corps members helped keep the Osun election orderly and professional.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, has praised corps members who served as ad-hoc election personnel during the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Kubiangha said the corps members demonstrated discipline, professionalism and commitment while carrying out their election duties across the state.
Coordinator Monitors Polling Units
The NYSC coordinator conducted monitoring visits to selected polling units in:
- Ede South
- Ede North
- Olorunda
- Osogbo
- Egbedore
During the exercise, he inspected polling units in Alajue 1 and Alajue 2, Akoda/Oloki, and Isibo/Buhari-Isola wards, among others.
His visits focused on the safety and welfare of deployed corps members, as well as their compliance with election procedures.
Corps Members Followed Guidelines
Kubiangha said his assessment showed that the corps members generally followed the operational instructions, safety measures and other directives provided before the election.
Those instructions included guidance issued during his sensitisation visits to local government areas, as well as directives from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters and Southwest Area Office 1.
At polling units in Osogbo, he observed different stages of the voting process, with some locations already completing voting while others were still conducting the exercise.
According to him, the corps members remained safe and able to perform their duties without intimidation, fear or undue interference.
He later visited polling units in Awo and Iragberi, both in Egbedore Local Government Area.
Security Agencies Also Receive Commendation
The state coordinator extended his appreciation beyond the corps members.
He praised the Situation Room officers, Zonal Inspectors and Local Government Inspectors for coordinating and monitoring the corps members throughout the election.
Security agencies also received commendation for helping protect corps members deployed across Osun.
Kubiangha further acknowledged the role played by INEC officials, particularly their response to challenges reported from polling locations.
He said timely interventions helped maintain the smooth running of the electoral process.
Stakeholder Cooperation Key to Peaceful Election
The NYSC coordinator identified cooperation among election stakeholders as another important factor behind the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
He specifically highlighted the Inter-Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), saying collaboration among stakeholders contributed to an orderly election environment.
NYSC Reaffirms Commitment to Corps Members
Kubiangha reiterated that the safety and welfare of corps members remain priorities for the NYSC.
He urged the corps members to continue representing the values of the Scheme by maintaining professionalism, discipline and a strong commitment to national service whenever they are called upon to perform their civic duties.
For the NYSC, the message from the Osun exercise is clear: preparedness, coordination and professionalism remain critical when corps members are deployed to support Nigeria’s electoral process.
