Fresh concerns over convoy safety

The incident has reportedly triggered concern within government circles because it is said to be the third accident involving the deputy governor’s convoy in about two months.

There are also reports that the vehicle pool assigned to the deputy governor’s office has been substantially reduced. As a result, vehicles from Governor Bassey Otu’s convoy were reportedly being deployed when necessary.

The development has raised questions about the adequacy and safety of transportation arrangements for the deputy governor and his team.

Official response still pending

Attempts to obtain an official statement from the Office of the Deputy Governor were unsuccessful, with officials declining to comment on the incident.

As of the latest reports, authorities were still assessing the situation. Further details about possible casualties, vehicle damage and Odey’s condition had yet to be officially confirmed.
