A 28-year-old Indian man from Punjab has been shot dead in New York City during an apparent robbery attempt while delivering pizza.
Gurdeep Singh, from Jabbowal village in Kapurthala district, was reportedly attacked in the Richmond Street area while carrying out a delivery.
An unidentified armed assailant allegedly opened fire during the incident the previous night, killing Gurdeep.

He Went to the US to Build a Better Future
Gurdeep had travelled to the United States about 13 years ago, according to his family.
His father, Pyara Lal, said Gurdeep had borrowed heavily to finance his journey abroad, hoping to find work and improve his family’s financial situation.
Life in the US was reportedly difficult at first.
But the family said Gurdeep persisted, working long hours and dedicating himself to creating a more secure future for his loved ones.
That effort ended tragically while he was simply doing his job.
Family Appeals for Help
News of Gurdeep’s death has left Jabbowal village in mourning, with relatives struggling to come to terms with the loss.
The family has appealed to the Punjab and Indian governments to assist with bringing Gurdeep’s remains back to India as quickly as possible.
They have also called on US authorities to:
- Identify and arrest the person responsible.
- Investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
- Ensure the suspect faces prosecution.
- Help the family obtain justice.
Gurdeep had not yet married.
For his family, the journey that began more than a decade ago with hopes of a better life has ended in devastating loss.
