Globacom is offering customers who pre-order Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones a six-month mobile data bonus as part of a new promotional partnership between the two companies.
Customers who pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold8 at any Gloworld outlet across Nigeria will receive 10GB of Glo data every month for six months.
The offer also comes with additional Samsung pre-order benefits valued at up to ₦1 million, giving prospective buyers extra incentives to purchase the new foldable devices during the pre-order period.
The announcement was made during an exclusive Samsung and Glo Masterclass held at Gloworld in Abuja, where customers and high-net-worth individuals were given an opportunity to experience the latest foldable technology from Samsung.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Series Targets Productivity
Speaking during the event, Samsung Nigeria’s North Regional Trainer, Bobby Ochang, described the Galaxy Z Fold8 series as Samsung’s most advanced foldable smartphone range yet.
He highlighted the devices’ combination of high-performance hardware and artificial intelligence features designed to make everyday tasks easier.
According to Ochang, the new smartphones are intended to function as more than conventional mobile devices.
The AI features can assist with tasks such as answering calls, transcribing conversations and helping users organise information.
“The Galaxy Z Fold8 is more than just a smartphone,” Ochang said. “It can serve as your personal assistant by taking calls on your behalf, transcribing conversations and helping you stay organized.”
The focus on AI reflects a broader shift across the smartphone industry, with manufacturers increasingly using artificial intelligence to differentiate premium devices.
Faster Charging and Improved Performance
The Galaxy Z Fold8 series also brings improvements to battery performance and charging.
According to Samsung’s presentation at the Abuja event, the devices feature a larger battery and support 45-watt fast charging, allowing the battery to reach more than 60% capacity in approximately 30 minutes.
The phones also feature brighter displays and faster processors designed to make multitasking smoother.
Those improvements are particularly relevant to users who rely on foldable smartphones for productivity.
The larger screens on Samsung’s Fold devices allow users to work with multiple applications simultaneously, making them increasingly attractive to professionals who use their smartphones for email, documents, video calls and other business tasks.
Stronger Foldable Design
Durability has historically been one of the biggest questions surrounding foldable smartphones.
Samsung is attempting to address that concern with a redesigned folding mechanism and additional durability testing.
Ochang said the latest foldable construction has been tested through as many as 400,000 folding cycles under controlled conditions.
The testing is intended to demonstrate how the hinge and folding display can withstand repeated use.
While laboratory testing does not necessarily reproduce every condition a smartphone encounters in everyday life, the higher cycle count is designed to give consumers greater confidence in the durability of the new devices.
Samsung Care Plus Offers Screen Protection
Samsung is also offering additional protection for customers who purchase the new foldables.
Customers who enrol in Samsung Care Plus during the first year of ownership may be able to replace a damaged screen for as little as ₦45,000, according to information shared at the event.
Screen damage can be particularly expensive for foldable smartphones because their flexible displays are more complex than those found on conventional handsets.
Lower-cost replacement options could therefore make premium foldables more appealing to consumers who might otherwise be concerned about repair expenses.
Glo Expands Its Samsung Partnership
For Globacom, the Galaxy Z Fold8 launch represents another opportunity to connect its network services with premium smartphones.
Speaking at the Abuja Masterclass, Oghenemaro Ugoje, Head of Gloworld Sales, said the event was organised to give customers in the Federal Capital Territory an opportunity to experience Samsung’s latest technology directly.
He also described Abuja as one of Globacom’s strongest markets.
The company believes the combination of Samsung’s new foldable hardware and Glo’s data offer will appeal to customers who want to make greater use of mobile internet services.
“With Glo’s exclusive 10GB data offer monthly for six months, customers can immediately enjoy everything these devices have to offer,” Ugoje said.
Live Demonstrations Give Customers a Closer Look
Guests at the Abuja event were able to experience the Galaxy Z Fold8 series through live demonstrations.
The demonstrations focused on several of the devices’ new features, including AI-powered productivity tools, display improvements, advanced photo and video editing capabilities and real-time transcription.
The hands-on sessions also showed how the phones can be used in different situations.
For professionals, the larger foldable screen can provide additional space for multitasking and managing documents. For entertainment users, the expanded display offers a larger viewing area for video and other content.
AI features, meanwhile, are designed to assist with communication and everyday tasks without requiring users to rely entirely on traditional app-based workflows.
AI Becomes a Major Smartphone Selling Point
The Galaxy Z Fold8 launch also highlights how artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important part of premium smartphone marketing.
For several years, smartphone manufacturers competed primarily on camera quality, processing power, battery life and display technology.
Those features remain important, but AI is now becoming another major differentiator.
Manufacturers are integrating AI into photography, communication, productivity and personalisation features.
Samsung’s approach with the Galaxy Z Fold8 series combines those AI capabilities with the flexibility of a foldable display.
The result is a smartphone designed to appeal particularly to users who want a device capable of handling both traditional mobile tasks and more demanding productivity workloads.
Glo’s Data Offer Adds Value for Early Buyers
The 10GB monthly data offer could also be significant for customers who want to take full advantage of the phones’ online features.
Modern premium smartphones increasingly depend on cloud services and internet connectivity for AI tools, video streaming, communication and productivity applications.
Providing additional data during the first six months gives buyers more room to explore those capabilities without immediately worrying about the cost of additional mobile data.
Combined with the Samsung pre-order benefits, the promotion gives early buyers several incentives to consider purchasing the devices through Gloworld outlets.
A New Chapter for Foldable Smartphones
Samsung’s latest foldable devices arrive at a time when manufacturers are attempting to make foldable smartphones more durable, powerful and useful for everyday consumers.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 series is positioned not simply as a novelty device but as a productivity-focused smartphone that combines a large flexible display with high-end performance and AI-powered features.
For Glo, the partnership adds another layer to the launch by combining premium hardware with mobile connectivity.
Customers interested in the new devices can pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold8 at Gloworld outlets across Nigeria to qualify for the promotional data package and Samsung’s additional pre-order benefits.
With 10GB of Glo data every month for six months, alongside benefits valued at up to ₦1 million, the partnership gives Nigerian consumers another reason to consider the latest generation of Samsung foldable smartphones.
