More than 100,000 people have already raised their hands. Now FIFA is opening the door.
FIFA has launched volunteer applications for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with more than 6,000 volunteers set to be recruited across the tournament’s eight host cities.
Interest is already huge.
After FIFA invited people to register their interest in July, more than 100,000 people came forward wanting to play a part. Those applicants can now take the next step by signing up through FIFA’s volunteer programme.
More than 30 roles across the tournament
The programme offers 30-plus different roles, covering both competition and non-competition venues.
Volunteers could work at:
- Stadiums
- Training sites
- Airports
- Hotels
- Media operations
- Technology
- Transport
- Ceremonies
In total, opportunities span more than 20 operational areas, giving volunteers a chance to experience the tournament from well beyond the stands.
Eight Brazilian host cities
The tournament will be staged across eight cities:
- Belo Horizonte
- Brasília
- Fortaleza
- Porto Alegre
- Recife
- Rio de Janeiro
- Salvador
- São Paulo
For thousands of successful applicants, that means becoming part of the event long before the first ball is kicked.
More than just matchday work
FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis described volunteers as a defining part of its major tournaments, highlighting the enthusiasm and commitment they bring to supporters and participants from around the world.
She also pointed to the personal side of the programme: new experiences, international friendships and the opportunity to contribute to an event capable of inspiring future generations.
That may explain why the response has been so strong.
